Lumineers are extremely thin veneers made out of cerinate porcelain. The fineness of the Lumineers is often compared to the thinness of contact lenses for the eyes. They are specifically made for each patient in a laboratory in the US and are hand-crafted for bespoke results. They cover the natural teeth and can be used to treat all manner of problems, including crooked teeth, gaps between teeth and tooth stains.
Veneers are normally made from either porcelain or composite bonding, functioning to cover the patient’s teeth and hide any imperfections. The fashion in which they cover the teeth is comparable to a false nail covering the nail underneath. We are able to offer our patients on-site porcelain veneers thanks to our dental technicians, but Lumineers are made at an exclusive laboratory in the US.
Lumineers have a number of advantages over other veneers. One of the major advantages is that they are much thinner than, which means that less of the natural tooth will be removed before fitting the Lumineers. The material used is incredibly strong and outdoes other veneers in terms of strength and durability. The other advantage is that the treatment is reversible, which will come as welcome relief to patients if they wish to choose an alternative treatment in the future.
Lumineers can treat a range of problems related to tooth imperfections, restructuring the teeth into a more aesthetically pleasing shape, colour and alignment. The colour of the Lumineers can be chosen to match the rest of the natural teeth, or you can choose to create a whiter look for all your teeth. Lumineers can treat discoloured teeth which are immune to whitening, chipped or cracked teeth, and teeth that are slightly out of line. They also work well to cover gaps between the teeth and offer an alternative to orthodontic treatment.
White fillings are able to rebuild teeth and composite bonding can also treat teeth that are chipped or cracked. Crowns are also able to cover and protect decayed or weakened teeth. Other veneer treatments are available to treat tooth irregularities, such as conventional porcelain veneers, but these are not as thin or durable as Lumineers.
One of the most impressive things about Lumineers is their durability as they are proven to last over 20 years when well cared for. This is an amazing length of time and although they are more expensive than other veneers they last up to twice as long.
When a normal veneer is fitted some of the tooth needs to be removed in order to fit the veneer. The advantage of Lumineers is that there is little preparation done on the natural teeth, if any at all. An impression will initially be taken and sent off to the Lumineer laboratory. The shade of white will be discussed beforehand, and upon the return of your Lumineers, they will be delicately applied to the teeth. Local anaesthetic may be used depending on each individual case..
The Lumineers are fitted over two appointments in most cases. During the first visit the colour will be chosen and an impression taken of the mouth. This is then sent to the laboratory for fabrication of your Lumineers. During the second appointment the Lumineers will be fitted to the front of the teeth gently and precisely.
Adjusting to Lumineers can take time but you will soon adjust to their feel. A while after treatment your dentist may want to check on them and make sure everything is going well. If a Lumineer gets chipped or broken they can easily be repaired. But the risk of this is minimal anyway as Lumineers are strong and resilient.

Staining and discoloration are problems for many. Whether the damage has been caused by time, stain-producing substances such as coffee and red wine, or by the administration of tetracycline, the polychromatic and natural-looking character of LUMINEERS corrects discoloration without appearing artificial, and provides a permanent whitening solution for those who hide their smile.
Restoring teeth to a more youthful appearance is also possible with LUMINEERS. Non-invasive rocedures and fast placement also make LUMINEERS ideal for more mature patients..
A variety of shape and spacing issues can also be addressed with LUMINEERS. Diastemas, small tooth size, unevenly shaped teeth, and unevenly aligned teeth may be ideal candidates for this solution of “instant orthodontics.”
Crooked and crowded teeth are common problems that patients want addressed with maximum convenience and minimum discomfort. LUMINEERS can eliminate the need for braces and correct misaligned teeth painlessly by placing ultra-thin LUMINEERS porcelain veneers, which permanently and painlessly cover misaligned teeth.
Some smiles never fully develop into a large, adult smile. Teeth may be large in the front yet small on the sides. In the past, to create an adult smile, patients had to rely on bonding to fill in the gaps or extensive orthodontics. Now with LUMINEERS, they can get an adult smile in as little as two office visits and without shots or drilling.
While bonding may offer a temporary fix, it may not be the most reliable way to ensure an attractive smile for the long run. LUMINEERS offers a painless, permanent and pleasant way to fix chipped teeth. You will always smile with confidence.
No matter a patient’s age, perfectly sound existing bridgework can make a patient appear much older if there is gingival recession and metal collars exposed or your natural dentition no longer matches in shade. LUMINEERS porcelain can easily be placed on top of existing crowns and bridgework to revitalize their overall appearance. Better yet, revitalize the whole smile with LUMINEERS to complete the look and take years off their smile. ADOLESCENT DENTITION: Even adolescent teeth can benefit from LUMINEERS. Improve smiles damaged from childhood accidents or orthodontia, and boost your patients’ confidence when they need it most!
Chips and cracks especially after trauma can be hidden beneath contact lens-thin LUMINEERS without destroying natural teeth.
